I’ll start with an apology. The photographer was waiting patiently, taking a picture of every Rover and MG to enter the showground. I ruined the flow by hesitating and then parking my Rover 75 with the riffraff in the corner of the field. I had some parts for a friend and took a chance on parking next to what I hoped was his car. Walking back later to exchange said parts, we managed to block the view of more cars entering the venue. Sorry, and sorry again.
What venue? The lovely Toddington Railway Station in the Cotswolds. Well worth a visit and made more special by Rover 120 and MG 100 celebrations at the Post Abingdon Weekender. Great to meet up with friends and enthusiasts of the Rover and MG brands. As usual, it made me feel rather old seeing cars that I had worked on – when newer than new as prototypes.
The Tomcat coupes looked superb and a credit to their owners. We have been developing a monotube front strut solution (with Bilstein) for these cars (and all Rover 200/25 and MG ZR derivatives) to give them the high-quality ride, refinement and control that they deserve. Our first parts are due next week, so more next month.
Gatherings such as these are wonderful for meeting clients who we may have talked to on the phone or just exchanged e mails. Sharing the passion for these cars gives me a sense of pride in the work done over the last ‘few’ years of my career. Long may these cars (and clients) continue.
We have bought another car. Oh dear. It is a bit of a favourite of mine and will be a useful addition when it comes to developing new ideas. More next month. It means that our TF 160 demonstrator is going to be up for sale. Lots of new parts, VHS goodies and ‘spot on’ geometry are included…. Something for the weekend?
